Angie Lim Clinical Psychology Registrar

Angie is a Clinical Psychologist (Registrar) who has recently submitted her doctoral thesis. She works with individuals across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, adults and older adults.

Her approach is grounded in psychodynamic, attachment, and relational theories, shaped by a deep interest in how early experiences influence our inner lives and relationships. Angie supports clients experiencing anxiety, identity concerns, relational difficulties, complex trauma, life transitions, and personality vulnerabilities. She also has a particular interest in working with young people navigating emotional and behavioural challenges. Angie emphasises a client-centred, collaborative approach. She draws flexibly from a range of evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and narrative-based approaches. Angie aims to meet each person where they are and offer a reflective space and experience for self-understanding and meaningful change.

Since adolescence, Angie has been engaged in mental health advocacy in Malaysia. At 17, she authored a children’s poetry book about Autism, which was featured in the local media and recognised by the Chief Minister and Member of Parliament for her contributions to youth mental health. This early commitment continues to shape her work, particularly her interest in culturally attuned, community-informed care.

Having lived and worked across Malaysia, the United States, and Australia, Angie brings a cross-cultural lens to her practice. She is fluent in English, Mandarin, Malay, Hokkien, and Japanese, and is committed to providing inclusive, developmentally informed, and culturally responsive therapy.

Angie’s academic and research background has been recognised through several awards and scholarships, including the Medical Research Future Fund full scholarship, the International Postgraduate Student Award, First Class Honours in Psychological Science, and induction into the Phi Beta Kappa Honours Society for outstanding academic achievement in the liberal arts and sciences. During her undergraduate years at Rutgers University, she was also named one of three Featured Students out of over 8,000 in her cohort, in recognition of academic achievement and community engagement.

In her free time, Angie enjoys contemporary writing, reading, learning, and tending to her ever-growing collection of houseplants.
